The frenzied relationship between Kat and Josh opens the series. It ends shortly after it begins to get very good, and Josh also abruptly vanishes following the horrific murder of her father. It’s easy to identify with Kat—it must be difficult to lose both your father and your fiancé in a short period of time. And every choice she makes shows how desperate she is. The issue, though, is that the show presents her issue in the most depressing and occasionally grating ways imaginable. This causes us to constantly doubt her ability to make quick decisions.
