In 2019, Gadd’s play Baby Reindeer made its Edinburgh Fringe debut as an hour-long production. That was a terrible telling of the story. All Martha was was an empty bar stool that Gadd adorned with multimedia and recordings of her notes to him and the people closest to her heart. When I saw it that year, I was immediately struck by the tangible uneasiness it caused. The result was appalling.
