The characters in this 1960s family sitcom resemble those from well-known horror tales like Frankenstein and Dracula. However, despite their peculiar appearance, the protagonists are a friendly, caring family. As frightening as the show gets are the occasional lighthearted references to blood, cemeteries, or Mr. Munster’s profession at a funeral home, however many visitors to the Munster residence express terror and flee quickly.
