Technically bold and intensely emotional, “Nickle Boys” sets Ross on a journey to create a bleak, completely cinematic sense of poetry. Elwood is a bright young man in the 1960s who grew up close to Tallahassee, Florida. He lives with Nana, follows his school schedule and gets assistance from Mr. Hill. He is a teacher who believes the kid has a unique personality. They encourages him to enroll in a technical college in order to have the best chance for a better future in the Jim Crow South. Elwood accepts a ride north on his way to the program, only to discover that he is traveling in the same vehicle as a person the police are searching for.
