In the years since Godzilla and Kong put aside their animosity to defeat Mechagodzilla, the two Alpha Titans have yet to come into contact with one another. Kong has made a name for himself as the only king at the top of Hollow Earth’s food chain. In the meantime, Godzilla has stayed on Earth and is still out there exploring the globe in an attempt to fend off the other Titans. Dr. Ilene Andrews, who oversees Monarch’s Kong research division, and her adopted daughter Jia are at the forefront of the human story. From the previous film, they are both back. Since Jia is the sole surviving member of the indigenous Iwi tribe on Skull Island, she has had a difficult time acclimating to life in the regular world.
