The twentysomething man named Mike is in charge of raising his younger sister Abby and is in a challenging position. As his aunt Jane attempts to gain custody of Abby, a move that the young child vehemently opposes, Mike battles severe anger management problems and unemployment. Mike is offered the chance to work night security at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a former children’s amusement park whose buildings and contents are still intact, after meeting with career counselor Steve. Mike takes an apparently uninteresting job and soon learns that there is a cast of animatronic figures, including Freddy, who are working on a dark project and have their equipment still operational. Local police officer Vanessa, who is well-versed in the establishment and its background, assists Mike in making sense of everything that is going on. The new employee discovers that sleeping in the building exposes him to a traumatic event that has destroyed his life and is curious to delve further into dreamland.
