America is at war with itself, with the President of the United States backing his men as they face a divided country. Learning that the President may not have much time left in office, photojournalist Lee and partner Joel decide to travel over dangerous terrain to Washington, D.C., in the hopes of interviewing the leader. They are joined by Sammy, an elder soldier who is also Lee’s tutor. Then there’s Jessie, a teen photographer who admires Lee and want to accompany her on a seemingly impossible project. Taking a truck hundreds of kilometers into territory controlled by the Loyalist States, the party experiences the unsettling nature of the battle and an altered country. Jessie finds the labor nearly excruciating as she witnesses things Lee has trained herself to overlook, and as the foursome approaches the President, they receive more violent threats, which tests their resolve to capture the narrative.
